The following Wi-Fi requirements and limitations apply to your Hunter Hydrawise-ready controller:
The Hunter HC controller is 802.11 B/G.
The Hunter Pro-HC controller is 802.11 B/G/N.
- The network mode set on the router needs to be set to B/G/N or be backwards compatible with the B/G network mode, as the Wi-Fi standard for the Hunter HC controller is 802.11 B/G.
IMPORTANT: Some new routers are set to N or A/C only. Please speak to your router provider or Internet Service Provider (ISP) if you need to confirm these settings (or make changes) and you are not sure on how to do so on your own.
- The router channel should be set between channels 1 and 11.
IMPORTANT: Some new routers are set to channel 12 or 13. If this is the case, please change the router to a channel between 1 and 11.
- The Security Type needs to be set to WPA or WPA2.
IMPORTANT: If your Wi-Fi security type is set to WEP or OPEN, you won't be able to connect. You also need to have full access to connect. Connections behind a firewall or that require additional login information will not allow the controller to connect.
If you need further assistance, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). They can guide you on how to check these settings and make changes accordingly.
The router must broadcast a 2.4 GHz signal. If you have a dual band router (i.e., 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), do not disable the 2.4 GHz signal.
The Security Type needs to be set to WPA or WPA2.
The network must not contain enterprise access points that have been configured to require certificates or other forms of enterprise authentication.
Hydrawise-ready controllers cannot connect to guest networks or networks that use a portal page to login.
