Configuring - Watering Days

Some U.S. cities (such as Plano, Texas) have watering restrictions where irrigation is only permitted on specific days every other week.

Watering on specific days every other week can be accomplished by configuring an appropriate Program Start Time.

Program Start Times tell the controller when it is permitted to run, so that you don't break any watering restrictions in your area.

Program Start Times are useful for US states with every second week watering restrictions

There are four Watering Types you can use when configuring a Program Start Time:

Normal watering type (every week) This watering time is used first when determining when the controller is permitted to run.
Watering on even weeks only This watering time is only used on even weeks. We use the ISO 8601 definition of even and odd weeks, where each week starts on a Monday. You can check out if a particular date is on an even or odd week using this online tool. When watering on even weeks, you can choose to water on specific days of that week or only odd or even days of the week.
Watering on odd weeks only This watering time is only used for odd weeks. We use the ISO 8601 definition of even and odd weeks, where each week starts on a Monday. You can check out if a particular date is on an even or odd week using this online tool. When watering on odd weeks, you can choose to water on specific days of that week or only odd or even days of the week.
Low Priority Watering Time Low-priority watering times are used when there are no Normal, Odd Week, or Even Week watering schedules available and a zone needs to run. A low-priority watering time can be useful where you want the controller to insert extra watering cycles between your normal watering cycles on hot days.

Program Start Times apply to all zones by default. This means that if a zone needs to start, it will find the next available Program Start Time. Program Start Times can be configured for use only by specific zones or watering schedules by adding the zone name or watering schedule into the Zones and Schedules column.

To configure odd- or even-week watering:

  • Go to Zones and Schedules in your app or web browser.
  • Add a Program Start Time and select Watering on odd weeks only or Watering on even weeks only as the watering type. Then select the days on which you want to water.
  • Set your Watering Schedules to your desired amount of watering times. For example, if you want to water once a day, set the Watering Frequency to "Once a day" on the Program Start Times.
